Rumbarroco: Latin-Baroque Fusion
RUMBARROCO’s debut CD is out, and it’s sure got rhythm!! Early Music and Latin American music as you’ve never heard them before. First we explore the music of medieval Spain, with its unique blend of Spanish, Jewish, and Arabic (Moorish) culture, spicing up those haunting melodies with exuberant modern Latin American rhythms. Then we bring out the influence of that cultural melting pot in Spain on Early Music in Europe and, after the mass immigration to the New World, the further blending of cultures in the folk and popular music of Latin America today. Our percussion section really lets its hair down with infectious Arabic and Latin grooves. And Antonio Vivaldi played on tiple with chalupa, bolero, and bambuco rhythms? You have to hear it to believe it!
