Hispania: Spanish and Latin-American Music from the Past and the Present

Time : 7PM
Venue : Katharine Cornell Theater
Address : 54 Spring St.
State : MA

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, Rumbarroco showcases the musical connections and parallels between Spanish and Latin-American music, both past and present.

Rumbarroco is an exciting new musical venture featuring expert musicians conversant in Renaissance, Baroque, and Afro-Latin music from both Spain and Latin America.

This is the group’s second visit to the Vineyard, and it promises to be a delightful concert.

Besides the composers Murcia, Narváez, Ortiz, and Velázquez. the music will feature examples of Venezuelan joropo and Mexican son styles, especially in the selections La Lloroncita, Fandanguito, and the well-loved La Bamba.

Yi-Li Chang, violin
Laura Crespo “Chispita”, percussion
Juan Luis Oropeza, percussion
